To help, we are giving you 5 top tips for Sectional Door maintenance...

If like the hundreds of thousands of customers you have purchased one or more sectional doors to provide valuable insulation and protection to your premises then you may have now realised that on occassions they demand high maintenace and cost! Well we are providing you with hot tips to maybe prevent some of those call outs and save you valuable cash!

1. Ensure that nothing but white spray grease is applied to the door tracks. ‘others’ apply grease – this attracts dirt and grit. Your rollers wear quicker and that means rollers drag – that means cables come off – that means new cables – that means cost. All for the sake of using the correct lubricant

2. If you have maintenace staff then get them trained and into the habit of carrying out minor repairs that can so often be expensive call outs. For example loose cables in fully closed positions? Simple just reset the limits. This will save you an expensive call out for a very minor task. Check cable slack once a week and adjust.simple.

3. Safety edge trouble? Your supplier may have incorporated a safety edge as part of the package. Do you really need auto close? Has this procedure resulted in a call out when unattended the door closed on to an object and caused damage. Expensive call out? Simple. Set to ‘dead’ man operation. The operator then has to monitor door function. Check safety edge function once a week at least. This function has a health and safety requirement set in place and closing forces have to met!

4. Change your torsion cables once a year. Random cable breaks often cause more damage especially to the lifting springs and bottom panels. Expensive items! Damage to these items often occur when cables snap and the door has no track safety brakes to protect the entire door hardware.

5. Last but not least – a good old fashioned hands on service routine, so many companies suffer at the hands of the ‘spray can’ and ‘tick sheet culture’ why not invest a little to save big costs for your sectional doors.
